With the convention just over two weeks away now, we thought we'd give you a few more updates:
The convention is completely sold out, although memberships are still transferable at the initial rate paid with a letter or e-mail from the original purchaser. You may transfer your membership to another person by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, letting us know the name and contact information of the person to whom you have sold your membership. We regret that we cannot process any further transfers after MARCH 9, at which time you will lose any reimbursement from the convention for unused memberships.
All hotel room cancellations must be made to email@example.com by 2:00 p.m. (UK time) on MARCH 20. After that time, no-shows will be charged 100% of the first night and any subsequent bookings will be cancelled. Any changes to existing room reservations should be made prior to MARCH 15. After that point, you will have to deal directly with the hotel(s) if you wish to make any changes to your booking.
PLEASE NOTE that all hotel rooms at the Royal Albion, Radisson Blu and Ramada Brighton MUST have been made through our hotel booking forms or e-mail address to receive the special WHC rate. If you contacted any of these hotels directly, there is a risk that your room may not be available—EVEN IF YOU RECEIVED CONFIRMATION FROM THE HOTEL. If you are in doubt, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Programming Grids can now be found on the website at www.whc2010.org/prog-grid01.html and we will be posting updates a week before the convention.
There are still a (very) few places available in our KAFFEEKLATSCHES for BASIL COPPER, IAN WATSON, CHELSEA QUINN YARBRO and GUY N. SMITH. So if you want to spend a fascinating hour having tea or coffee with any of these writers, go to www.whc2010.org/kaffee01.html and join up now. This is a unique opportunity to hang out with these giants of the genre.
For budding authors or those writers who just want to hone their skills, there are also a few places still remaining in the CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP with Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning author PAUL McAULEY, and THE VAMPIRE WRITING WORKSHOP and MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUES with NANCY KILPATRICK. These experienced writers will teach you how to come up with original concepts, prepare your manuscripts to a professional level, and submit your work to various markets. To sign up now, go to www.whc2010.org/workshop01.html.
And if you have any books looking for a publisher or agent, or any works that you are trying to sell the subsidiary rights to, then go to www.whc2010.org/pitchblack01.html and fill out the forms for PITCH BLACK—our unique international pitch fair for genre fiction being held from Noon until 5:00pm on the Thursday in the Royal Albion Hotel.
The fabulous hardcover Souvenir Book and Pocket Programme are being printed, the final tweaks are being made to the programming (expect a few surprises), and our handsome delegate bags are filling up with many wonderful things. In short, all is going to plan for one of the biggest and most exciting World Horror Conventions ever held.
Remember, when you arrive, go to the Convention Registration Desk (Thursday-Saturday) in the lobby of the Royal Albion Hotel to collect your badge and membership pack. To prevent identity theft, we request that you have some form of acceptable ID with you when registering.
If you are getting to Brighton early, we are offering early registration on the Wednesday evening from 8:00-10:00pm as well as hosting a small reception in the Royal Albion Lounge for those who have already registered.
Wish you were here? Well, now you can be . . .
